Masonic Monitor Article for March 2008

The visit of the Grand Master, MWB Wayne I. Smith to Alki Lodge No. 152 last February 4, 2008 was an event to remember. We had such great fun and fellowship. The lodge was truly honored to have him for the evening. Our Ladies expressed their appreciation and delight for having the chance to join us in the Lodge Room on a call-off session and witnessed the entertainment provided by a special guest performer and the awarding ceremony. The Grand Master delivered a very inspiring pitch and had the Ladies participate in a parting ceremony before they were excused from the Lodge Room.

Our congratulations to the recipients of the following awards:

• WB John Wesley Spridgeon - 2007 Hiram Award
• VWB Tee Squant-Nee Jackson - 50th year Anniversary as a Mason. He was awarded the 50-year pin and a certificate on a ceremony conducted by RWB G. Santy Lascano, VWB Alden D Sarmiento, WB Tom Magpoc, WB Bert Bautista and WB Sonny DeJesus.

Both awards were presented by the Grand Master, MWB Wayne I. Smith.

Hats off to Bro. Michael Sawyer who had flawlessly passed the proficiency test on the 3rd degree posting lecture (full version) with letter-perfect accuracy. Excellent work, Brother.

Our special thanks to the Order of Amaranth, Westgate Court (assisted by Rainbow Girls, Assembly #18) for providing a terrific catering service to the lodge.

Alki Lodge No. 152 welcomes our youngest Entered Apprentice Mason, Bro. Alex Madlangbayan, who was initiated on February 18, 2008.

For the month of March, we have lined up the following events for the get-together and fellowship of the Brethren and Ladies:

March 3rd - Stated Meeting (Past Master’s Night) at 7:30 PM. Our honorable guest speaker is MWB Alvin Jorgensen. This is a catered dinner to be hosted by the Order of Eastern Star, Crown Chapter at 6:15 PM. Donation is $10.00 per head. RSVP to WB Sonny DeJesus at imdj12850@comcast.net or Bro. Special Note: There will be a cooking demo for the Ladies. Sis Imelda, the Lady of our JD, Bro. Lozano Canlas, will be presenting her culinary skills in preparing Filipino noodle dish (Pansit). Yummy, looks like we are going to have a taste test after the meeting.

March 19th - Ladies Night at 6:30 PM, Alki Temple Dining Hall. Our honorable guest speaker is Sis Nancy Jorgensen. Dinner and some musical entertainment will be provided.

March 29th - Crab Feed, 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM at Alki Temple Dining Hall. We will be serving freshly-cooked Dungeness crabs with a choice of baked potato or rice on the side. Alternate dishes are grilled steak or chicken. Donation is $25.00 per head. Proceeds will be used to support the establishment of the DeMolay Chapter in West Seattle and School Awards Program. There will be some door prizes to be given away during the event. Tickets will be available thru the following:
